A Burning

Every now + then growth requires a burning. A death. A cutting away of something that has become a burden. Sometimes we go on with life as normal but ignore the overgrowth that has happened. Like a field with tall overgrown, unruly weeds + dead grass. How can anything new grow amongst such thick dead grass? How can the newer grass or flowers underneath get the nourishment it requires from the sun if the old grass doesn’t move? Sometimes... sometimes a burning must happen. As painful + terrifying as a fire is, it is necessary. No one wants to go through a fire. But for new growth to happen? There must be a burning of the old. Once the fire has quenched everything in its path... there is room. Room to grow. Room to see the sun. Room for new life to have a chance. Sometimes we come upon an unexpected fire + sometimes we must start the fire. But nonetheless we must walk through it + allow the fire to have its way in clearing away the brush. Only then will we have space for new life.
