Beauty + Wonder
There you are, in the middle of creating, in complete creation bliss mode. Suddenly, the thing you were so excited to make takes a wrong turn + the perfectionist in you just can’t stand it anymore. You don’t even want to finish it. But this time you do.
You see, there’s a certain glory in finishing something you started. Sure you’re like a dog who is easily distracted by squirrels or shiny things. Sure every time you see your piece you can immediately pinpoint every single little flaw. But yet, there’s this piece of completing joy that nips at you every time. Maybe you failed. Maybe it’s just strange looking. Maybe your daughter, who has received the creating gene also, looks at it + sees complete beauty. Her awe makes you bite your tongue + take time to see it from her perspective.
Creating is a risky business. Creating is a way to display your heart, your feelings, your soul. What you as a creator might see as flawed + horribly mistaken, someone else sees beauty + wonder. Thank God in heaven as creator that He sees beauty + wonder in each of His creations! And thank God for other people to see the beauty in us, even when we are blind too notice, to come along + say “Hey! I see you + you’re a wonder to behold.”
So take this as your sign to NEVER stop creating! Even if something feels like a mistake, don’t give up, complete it + then try again. This is where growth + learning happens. It’s where beauty + wonder are created. I see you. You’ve got gold in you my friend. Keep going!
