Avalanche

There’s an avalanche.

It’s loud.

It’s fast.

It’s scary.

Running fast

Trying not to look back.

Searching for safety

But there is none.

It sweeps up any way.

It does not discriminate,

this avalanche.

Carrying all with it.

All the hurt + unhurt

Aware + unaware

Doesn’t matter.

It affects everything around it.

All are buried - alive + alone

Left to wonder which way is up,

Which way is down.

Trying not to suffocate

Trying not to panic

All will have to figure their own way out.

The only death is giving up.

Don’t give up.

Don’t let go.

Even through the hurt

the confusion

the fear

the anger.

This avalanche was going to happen.

It needed to happen.

Comforting or not

Doesn’t matter.

All that matters is

what you do when you dig out.

_______________

After this many of his disciples turned back + no longer walked with him. So Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you want to go away as well?” Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, + we have believed, + have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.” -John 6:66-69

His words are the ones that matter. What is He saying?
