A Burying

In the dirt is a bed

lie down gently if you will

the ground is soft

the soil is safe

lay ever still + watch my face

do not fear

do not worry

i plan to cover you,

there’s no hurry

in the ground you will rest

in the earth like a nest

my precious seed

do not struggle

do not fret

i know its dark

but don’t regret

In the quiet

in the stillness

suddenly

a shoot will break forth

followed by beauty

so do not despise

the grave I set you in

for there

is where your shell is cast

and the deeply rooted

glory I hid there

finds its place to stretch at last
